Chado

Documentary photographer

Lagos, Nigeria

Chado Daniel, who works as Chado, is a documentary photographer based in Lagos. He shoots in black and white and photographs the street as he finds it, without arranging what is in front of the lens. His real subject is attention: who receives it in a crowded city, and who has learned to do without it. In Reality, his photograph on Raknida, the traffic and the passers-by fall away into blur. One person resting on a concrete ledge can then be seen clearly, with care and at eye level.
