How to Commission Art for a Hotel or Restaurant
In short
Guests remember a room by what hangs on its walls. For a hotel, restaurant or residence, art is part of the brand. It is also a purchase that has to land on time, on budget and in good order.
This is how a hospitality art project runs at Raknida, from the first call to the last work on the wall.
Start with the story, not the square footage
The strongest hospitality collections answer one question: what should this place say? It might be a city, a coastline, a heritage or a mood. That brief guides every choice that follows, from artists to frame colour.
Every work on Raknida names its artist and the tradition it draws on. That gives your team a true story to tell guests, on a card by the lift or in the room book.
How the project runs
- A free first consultation. Tell us about the property, the rooms and your dates. Our curatorial team replies from trade@raknida.com.
- A proposal. We shortlist works by room type, with sizes, finishes and a priced plan.
- Production. Every artwork is made to order, then checked before it ships. Timelines are paced to your opening date.
- Delivery and acceptance. Each work comes with its digital Cultural Passport, so its story travels with it.
Projects start from $25,000 and run under our Master Services Agreement. Payment is 50% on signing, 25% on production approval and 25% on delivery and acceptance. Pricing is set project by project.
One work in a hundred rooms
Hotels often want the same work in every room. Retail editions are small, so for project volume we offer a Project Edition. It is numbered to your project, outside the retail edition, and never sold in our shop.
A Project Edition is open to Studio works whose artist has opted in, and to Collector works with the artist's written consent. Limited and Signature works are never repeated. Where you want one of them, we pair it with complementary works or commission something new.
Beyond the frame
On request, we can license an artist's work as a mural, wallcovering or glass graphic. The artist approves every adaptation and earns a share of the licence fee.
What to prepare for the first call
- Room types and counts, with rough wall sizes.
- Your opening or refurbishment date.
- A budget range, and who signs off.
- Any brand guidelines or mood boards.
