Iman Hassan is a Lagos-based digital artist and illustrator, and a Fine Art graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, where she majored in Graphic Design. Her work explores femininity, cultural identity, nostalgia and the everyday lives of contemporary African women, in warm, earthy palettes with rich texture. She often works from personal experience, memory and photographic reference. Her subjects range from an Iyalaje, a Yoruba market leader, in a towering red gele, to two women at a hair-threading session. She has also painted a woman who has kept a weekday for herself.
