How it works →
A feminist, in Clement Obioha's definition, is a woman working hard to build the life of her dreams. She goes out of her way to create a life worth living. She shoulders responsibilities like those of a man and still keeps the gentleness and kindness of a woman. In 2024 he painted that definition as a single person.

He did not soften her. "She has masculine features," he says, and the painting treats this as part of her strength rather than something to explain away. Force and tenderness share one figure here, as they do in the women he describes. She glances sideways beside a bright window, entirely at ease, and the hot colour around her reads as admiration. Feminist is his tribute to women who carry more than their share and stay kind while they do it.

Motifs in this work

The sideways glance: composure, a woman at ease with herself

Hot pinks and purples: warmth and open admiration

The bright window: a life opening outward, built by her own work

Chibuike Clement Obioha

Igbo · Lagos, Nigeria · 5 works on Raknida

Chibuike Clement Obioha, who signs his work Liberto Clems, is a Lagos-based artist best known for caricature. He works across pencil, acrylic and digital media, guided by a wish to tell African stories from an African perspective. A background in architecture and 3D environment design shapes his feeling for the space and atmosphere around his figures. His subjects come from Nigerian music, history and everyday life. He is co-founder of The Caricature Guys, which creates art experiences for clients, and across both practices his aim stays the same: pride, certainty in one's identity, discovery and peace.
