Somebody: the word for a person you can't, or won't, name. Ai_mayor paints exactly that. The figure stands with arms folded in a black sweater, locs falling past the shoulders. The face is filled in with black, leaving only silver eyes and silver lips to look back at us. You know someone is there. You will not find out who.

Then there is the fish. A betta, red and blue, its fins trailing like silk, lies draped across one shoulder as calmly as a scarf. A pink disc rises behind the head and flat geometric planes cut through a sky that shifts from yellow to pink. Mayowa Enoch Aiyedogbon keeps his figures half-hidden and half-revealed, and Somebody pushes that furthest. The person disappears, and the brightest, most living detail is the fish. Look at how still it lies.
